About This Call

Hera Gallery presents In God We Trust: Reflections on Religion in America, an exploration of the diversity and ubiquity of faith in America and the complex ways in which religion intersects with American culture. The exhibition examines how contemporary and historical issues of race, gender, politics, economics, law, medicine, and science have been informed by faith. Religion has been used to justify both oppression and social good through community building and offering hope. In collaboration with the 2019 Honors Colloquium at The University of Rhode Island, Hera Gallery seeks artwork in all media that reflects the diversity of all religions and their effects on American culture. The exhibition is juried by Nezka Pfeifer.

Eligibility is open to works of any medium including performance and installation. 3D works are limited to 100 lbs and must fit through a 5'10" x 6'8" door. 2D works must also fit through the same door. The entry fee is $35.00. Work samples may include up to 3 images, 3 audio files, and/or 3 video files, with a minimum of 1 total sample required. Artists will be notified of acceptance by September 5th, 2019. The exhibition runs October 12–November 16, 2019, with an opening reception on October 12th, 6-8PM.

Accepted artists must deliver work by October 5th, 2019. Artists are responsible for all return shipping costs and must include a prepaid return shipping label. Hera Gallery retains a 30% sales commission. Although care will be taken in handling artwork, Hera Gallery assumes no responsibility for damage, loss, or theft, and artists are responsible for their own insurance. Hera Gallery reserves the right to photograph work for publicity and use artist names, likenesses, and artwork in exhibition materials.
