About This Call
IN FLUX Cycle 3 is a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for temporary public art projects across seven Arizona Valley cities: Chandler, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. Up to 16 opportunities are available, including 14 vacant storefronts and 2 open air installations. Project budgets range from $4,000-$7,000 per project and are all-inclusive of labor, transportation, equipment rental, shipping, material costs, and artist fees for installation and de-installation. All projects are temporary and will remain on view for a maximum of ten months.
Eligibility is open to all Arizona artists, including individuals and collectives/groups/teams, as well as those who have previously completed an IN FLUX project. To apply, submit 5 images of previous work, your resume, and a brief statement about why your work is a good fit for these types of projects. The deadline for submission is October 26, 2012 at 11 p.m. AZ time (midnight MST). Artists will be selected through a public process conducted by all 7 partnering agencies, with selection panels recommending one artist and one alternate per available opportunity. Selected artists will be notified via email on November 19, 2012.
IN FLUX demonstrates a holistic approach to temporary public art projects through a showcase of local Arizona artists creating original site-specific artworks. The initiative provides artists with opportunities to expand their skill-sets, showcase their creativity, and garner public recognition. IN FLUX partners seek to provide opportunity, experience and education to emerging and established local artists. For questions, contact [email protected] or call 480.874.4629.
