In CommonWealth: Kentucky Art, Craft, & Design

In CommonWealth: Kentucky Art, Craft, & Design is a juried exhibition celebrating the distinct yet interconnected practices of art, craft, and design. The exhibition highlights Kentucky's shared creative origins while honoring differences, championing the essential similarities and distinctions in how and why creative work is produced. The exhibition is open to all artists, designers, and craftspeople over the age of 18 currently residing in Kentucky. Work must be original and completed in the last 4 years, submitted in all media, genres, and disciplines, including two-, three-, and four-dimensional work. The juror is Kurt Gohde, Professor of Art at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) and allows a maximum of 3 entries per artist/designer/craftsperson. Submissions are made via CaFÉ with one image per entry (JPEG or JPG, under 5MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side). Accepted work must be delivered between January 13-17, 2025. Work arriving late will not be exhibited. All costs related to transportation, shipping, and insurance are the responsibility of exhibitors. Shipped artwork must include a pre-paid return shipping label from UPS or FedEx. Work must be professionally presented and installation ready upon arrival. The gallery's doorways are a maximum of 8 x 8 feet. The gallery can accommodate a limited amount of work requiring data projectors, TVs, or audio equipment.

The exhibition runs January 28 – February 20, 2025, at EKU Giles Gallery on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky. A public reception is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 6–8PM. Three awards of $300 each will be selected by the juror and announced at the reception. EKU Giles Gallery does not take commission on sales resulting from inclusion in the exhibit. Exhibitor pick-up is Friday & Saturday, February 21 & 22, 11AM–4PM, or Monday, February 24, 11AM–4PM. Work left more than 30 days after the close of the exhibition will become the property of Eastern Kentucky University. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
