In Cahoots Residency June-December 2024

In Cahoots Residency is designed for people who have prior experience in art and/or writing. The residency welcomes adult artists of all ethnicities, religions, ages, physical abilities, gender, sexual orientation, financial status and educational backgrounds. Applicants must be 18 years or older. For artists applying as a collaborative team, each artist should complete a separate entry form and make a clear note on the application that you are applying as a team.

Visual artists must submit 8-10 images of artwork, a resume/CV, and answers to application questions about creative practice and proposed project. Writers must submit 1-3 writing samples (a total of 10 pages or less), a resume/CV, and answers to application questions. Those applying for a grant must also provide 3 references and a description of financial need. Ten full and partial grant awards are available in each application round. Applicants who are not awarded grants will automatically be considered for a regular (non-grant) residency. The full grant covers the entire residency fee but does not cover travel, specific materials, or food. Special consideration is given to emerging artists/writers with less than 10 years of experience, artists/writers of color, recent students, those returning to art/writing after another career, and adjunct teachers.

Applications are accepted twice a year with deadlines on June 1 and October 1. The October 1, 2023 deadline is for residencies taking place from June to December 2024. The application period is August 27-October 1, 2023, closing at 11:59 Mountain Time. There is a $25 application fee. Notification of acceptance/denial will be sent 8 weeks after the deadline. If accepted, a $200 holding deposit is due within a month of acceptance. The residency fee is due 60 days before the residency start date. During regular sessions, spouses, pets, and children are not allowed, though spouse-friendly and dog-friendly sessions are available with additional fees.
