About This Call

"Impressions – the Art of the Print" is a statewide juried exhibition of original printmaking art open to Arizona artists only. The exhibit presents original printmaking methods and educates visitors about printmaking as an art form and the difference between printmaking versus the reproduction of art called a "print." All printmaking methods are accepted, including monotype, etchings, drypoint, lithography, woodcut, linocut, collagraph, and screenprint. Final printed substrate does not have to be paper. Work must have been completed within the last 24 months, and work previously displayed at TCA is not eligible. All work must be the original creation of the artist.

Entry requires submission of 1-3 digital images in jpg format only. Entry fee is $35 ($32 with TCA Member discount), plus $3 per additional entry image up to 3 entries ($2 each with member discount). The deadline is January 25, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. The juror is David Andrés, director and curator of the Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery at Pima Community College West. Awards will be presented during the virtual opening reception on February 26, 2021: Best of Show ($200), Award of Excellence ($150), Award of Merit ($100), and three Honorable Mentions ($50 each). The exhibition runs February 26 – April 4, 2021.

All artwork must arrive ready to hang. If framed, work must be suitably matted in white, black, or neutral colors, simply framed, and firmly wired with no sawtooth hangers. All work must be for sale; TCA retains a 40% commission. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA. Unsold work will be shipped back after the exhibition closes; artists must provide a barcoded prepaid shipping label for return. No art may be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition, including sold art.
