Impressions

Impressions is a juried exhibition open to all artists in the United States working in 2D media (excluding photography and digital art). The theme invites artists to interpret "Impressions" in their own way—capturing the mood of a scene or subject, using printmaking or pressed elements, creating abstract pieces that suggest a place or feeling, or depicting something that has impressed or impacted them.

Submit 1-3 digital images of your work. Entry fee is $20 per image for non-members, $15 per image for members. Work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, must have been completed within the last 10 years, and may not exceed 48 inches on the longest side (including frame). Acceptable media include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, collage, mixed media, monotype, and egg tempera on any 2D surface. Work must be professionally framed or presented, with frames no wider than 1.5 inches. Framed work must be under glass or Plexiglass (except canvas, wood, or board pieces) and must be wired for hanging.

The exhibition runs August 23–September 26, 2025, both online and in person at the gallery in Pawtucket. Drop-off and shipping dates are August 7–21 (Thursdays & Fridays 10am–4pm, Saturdays 10am–3pm; August 16 only 9am–12pm). Acceptance notification is August 7. Pick-up is September 26, 10am–4pm. Return shipping window is September 26–October 26. The juror is Jackie Dorsey. If work is sold, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale.
