Impressionism vs. Realism

Las Laguna Gallery is seeking submissions of original work representing either Impressionism or Realism for a group exhibition. Impressionist painters such as Renoir and Monet sought to evoke subjective and sensory impressions with their work, rather than simply re-creating an objective reality. Realists, on the other hand, seek to represent their subject in a lifelike manner, such as it is subjectively seen to the eye. This exhibition will compare and contrast the styles of impressionism and realism, showcasing the traditional aspects and beauty of both movements.

There are no restrictions on content, medium or context, but entries should fit within the impressionism or realism theme. All local, national, and international artists, professional and amateur, and artists of all ages are encouraged to submit. Acceptable sizes have no limitation, though pieces over 48" are noted as costly for shipping and manageable sized pieces are recommended.
