Immersed in Abstraction

Ellington-White Contemporary Gallery presents Immersed in Abstraction, a national juried competition running August 4 – September 22, 2018. The gallery invites artists to submit entries exploring abstract art, including abstracted interpretations of recognizable subjects or nonobjective works that rely on elements of art, design, or process to create meaning.

Eligibility is open to professional artists 18 years of age and older. All work must be original and completed within the last three years, and have not been previously exhibited in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Only 2-dimensional works will be considered. Artists may submit a maximum of three works, each sized between 12" x 12" and 48" x 48" including frame. All works must be properly framed, wired, and ready to hang. Entry fee is $35 for up to three images submitted online via CaFE by July 4, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.

All entries will be juried for an online exhibition by visual arts professors Shane Booth, Soni Martin, and Dwight Smith from Fayetteville State University Department of Performing and Fine Arts. Works selected for the online exhibition will be displayed August 4 – September 30, 2018 on the gallery website. Gallery juror Randy Akers will select works from the online exhibition for display in the physical gallery space. Awards total $1,750 in cash, including a People's Choice Award and Honorable Mentions. A 30% commission applies to all sales. Accepted works must arrive by July 21, 2018.
