About This Call
Imagination in Print is a juried exhibition of original, hand-pulled prints open to all California artists. The exhibition runs April 28 - June 18, 2019 at Art at the JCC - Santa Barbara Jewish Community Center, 524 Chapala Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101.
Eligibility and Requirements: Artists must be able to hand-deliver prints on April 26, 10 am - 12 noon and pick up work on June 20, 12 noon - 2 pm. Entry fee is $37 for up to three entries. Accepted print types include silkscreen, linocut, woodcut, lithograph, etching, collagraph, monotype, monoprint, photo polymer etching, and these techniques combined with photochemical or digital printing, chine collé, transfer images and hand coloring with translucent media. Submitted prints must be no larger than 36" in either direction. All delivered prints must match the juried image and should be rigidly framed and wired for hanging (no saw tooth hangers). Nude studies and violent images are not appropriate for this venue.
Schedule and Awards: Notification of invited artists is April 9. The opening reception is Sunday, April 28, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, featuring live music by Chucumite 2 - 3 pm and an awards presentation and talk by juror Laura-Susan Thomas 3 - 3:30 pm. Prizes: First Place $300; Second Place $150; Third Place $50; Two Honorable Mentions. The Jewish Community Center handles sales and takes 25% commission.
