About This Call
Images of Illinois 2017 is a photography competition celebrating the wonders of Illinois. Photographers are invited to submit their best shots taken anywhere in Illinois or on its waters. The competition offers over $600 in cash and prizes, with winning photos featured in Illinois Times and displayed at the SAA Collective gallery from July 6-29, 2017.
Photographs must be taken within Illinois state boundaries or its waters and cannot have been entered in past Images of Illinois contests. Four classes are available: Professional Adult, Amateur Adult, Youth (13-17), and Youth (12 and under). Two categories are offered: People and Places/Things. Judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category within each class, plus up to two honorable mentions per category. One "Best of Show" will be selected from all submissions. Best in Show receives $300 cash; Professional and Amateur 1st place winners in each category receive $75 cash; Youth 1st place winners receive gift certificates to local retailers.
Entry fee is $10 per entry for adults and $5 per entry for youth. A maximum of 10 entries may be submitted per artist. Entries must be submitted digitally via the Call for Entry website (CaFE) at springfieldart.org between March 1 and June 17, 2017. Photographs must be in JPEG format only, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, at 72 ppi/dpi resolution. No watermarks, dates, signatures, or copyright marks are permitted on images. Nude or inappropriate photography will not be accepted. Winners will be announced July 6, 2017, with a public reception and awards ceremony held that evening from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the SAA Collective gallery (420 South 6th St., Springfield, IL 62701). All eligible entries will be digitally displayed during the exhibition.
