Illumination

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is hosting an online juried exhibition titled "Illumination." The show seeks pieces with a strong sense of light or illumination, where light is used to draw the viewer's eye to the focal point, create contrast, or convey mood and feeling. The juror is Vlad Duchev.

The exhibition runs January 25th through February 21st, with an online opening reception on Thursday, January 30th at 6pm via Zoom. Notification of acceptance will be sent January 24th. Entry fee is $15 per image for non-members and $10 per image for members. Artists may submit 1-3 images. Over $300 in cash prizes will be awarded.

Open to all 2D media excluding photography and digital art. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, and egg tempera on any 2D surface. Work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, must have been completed within the last 10 years, and must be original work not copied from copyrighted material or created under the direct guidance of another or following a tutorial. Work may be listed as NFS by contacting the gallery at [email protected]. There is no size limit. If work is sold through the online gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale. Shipping is not required as pieces will be displayed in digital format only. Open to all artists in the United States.
