About This Call
Local and regional artists are invited to submit qualifications for the 2022 Inglewood Growing Artists' Projects (IGAP) to create original creative work drawing on Inglewood's diverse trees and landscapes. IGAP, a creative commissioning program begun in 2013, recognizes that artists are expert in the development and placement of impactful public art. Inglewood has a significant collection of mature trees in City Hall and in parks and open spaces. Artists are invited to explore this collection for inspiration through physical works of sculpture, painting, photography, video, poetry, prose, artist's book, or temporary installation.
Three semi-finalists will be paid to develop a proposal format and site for the commission. One artist will be contracted in the amount of $30,000 to design, fabricate, publicly present, and document the work within a twelve-month period, to become part of the City's Public Art Collection.
Applications must include: a letter of intent outlining interest in the project and connection to your body of work (no more than 2000 words); a statement of connection to or interest in Inglewood, California's cultural communities (no more than 1000 words); a resume with three references including current title, email, and phone number; a portfolio of 4-8 images, 0-5 videos, and/or 0-2 PDFs with no more than 15 pages combined; and work sample information in PDF format including artwork title, description (100 words or less), medium, completion date, dimensions, location, and budget/cost. Eligibility is limited to local and regional artists.
