About This Call
The City of Inglewood established the Public Art Fund to promote opportunities for artists to work on the civic canvas. Inglewood Growing Artists Projects (IGAP) 2020 recognizes that the efforts of local professional artists should be reflected in the city's permanent public art collections. Love, Inglewood unites these goals into a program resulting in the city's third collection of portable public art to be displayed in civic properties.
Love, Inglewood is a purchase program developing a collection of contemporary artworks on paper purchased directly from visual artists with an Inglewood presence. Purchase price is up to $1,500 per unframed artwork. The purchased artworks will be framed under a separate city contractor for permanent display as a group in City Hall, the Main Public Library, or the Senior Center. The imagery or other content must be suitable for all ages.
Artists are invited to submit images of up to 3 existing works on paper. Eligible media include drawing, watermedia, traditional or digital photography, or collage on archival paper, 24 x 24" or smaller. The anticipated outcome is eight to ten artworks as a collection of framed works representing Inglewood artists. A review panel comprised of artists, curators, and city staff will prioritize art purchases. The application deadline is September 19, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
