About This Call

IEA EncaustiCon 2012 International Juried Exhibition is an international juried competition open to all artists working anywhere in the world, 18 years of age and older. The exhibition will be held at Gallery Nord in San Antonio, Texas from September 7-29, 2012, with an opening reception on September 7, 2012 from 6-8:30 pm. The juror is Paula Berg Owen, President and CEO of the Southwest School of Art.

Submitted works must be original, 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional encaustic works conceived and created entirely by the artist. Mixed media works are acceptable if they contain a preponderance of molten wax as a major component. Film, video, crafts, and jewelry will not be accepted. 2-D works must be minimum 12" x 12" and maximum 72" x 72", not exceeding 50 pounds. 3-D works may not exceed 72" (h) x 30" (w) x 72" (d) and may not exceed 150 pounds. All works must be original and not copied from published or copyrighted work. Entry fee is $35 for non-IEA members ($25 for IEA members with discount code) for a minimum of 3 entries, with $10 for each additional entry up to 6 total entries. The entry deadline is June 29, 2012. Accepted artists will be notified by email on or about July 15, 2012. Delivery deadline is August 20, 2012.

Awards include: 1st Place - $1,000 cash prize, cover feature in Poets and Artists magazine with headshot, artist statement, studio shot, winning piece photo, and additional work samples; 2nd Place - $600 cash prize and publication in Poets and Artists magazine; 3rd Place - $400 cash prize and publication in Poets and Artists magazine; and 1-5 Honorable Mention awards at juror's discretion. All selected artwork will be published in an online gallery. All works submitted must be for sale through Gallery Nord with a 50% commission to the gallery. Contact: [email protected].
