About This Call
Call for Art: "Defining Identity Through Visual Expression"
Artists have long used their work as a means to express and define who they are, offering the world a glimpse into their unique perspectives, experiences, and passions. This exhibition invites artists to share their vision, exploring identity and connection through visual storytelling. We are seeking works that capture the ways artists define themselves, their relationships, and their world. This can include still life objects that represent personal significance, memory, or cultural identity; portraiture depicting individuals or groups that reflect meaningful relationships or connections; animals expressing kinship with beloved pets, symbolic creatures, or wildlife; landscapes that inspire joy, provoke reflection, or address environmental concerns; and emotional and conceptual journeys exploring the self through abstract, conceptual, or literal interpretations.
Submissions are open to artists working in all mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art. Artwork should align with the theme and must include an artist statement (150-250 words) explaining how the work connects to the theme. The entry deadline is February 16, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $35.00 (non-refundable regardless of acceptance). Submissions must include 1-5 images. Notice of acceptance will be provided by February 24. Accepted work must be delivered to the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street, Livermore on Tuesday, March 4 between 10am-12noon. The exhibition runs March 6 through May 4, 2025. A reception is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 from 1-3 pm. Artwork pickup is Tuesday, May 6 between 10am-noon. Work must be wired and ready to hang with "D" hooks recommended. A label should be attached to the back listing artist name, title, price, and medium. Artists must sign a release form upon delivery. Livermore Valley Arts does not provide insurance for damaged or stolen work.
