About This Call

iDEAS_14 is an international exhibition of innovative digital art, design, and new media held in conjunction with the 12th annual International Digital Media and Arts Association (IDMAA) conference at Utah Valley University near Provo, UT, from November 5th-7th, 2014.

Digital art and design works may be submitted in a variety of media, including interactive pieces, animation, games, video, printed imagery, virtual spaces, sound, sculpture, and hybrid media. Submitted work must have been created within the past three years and utilize digital media in some stage of the creation process. Artists may submit up to three images or URLs for time-based/interactive work. The entry fee is $35.00 for individual artists. Artists whose work is accepted will receive a $50 discount on conference registration, a complimentary printed catalog, award plaques and certificates, consideration for artist talks, and inclusion in the online gallery at http://idmaa.org/. The exhibit opening takes place on November 5th and will be on display for the duration of the conference.

The conference provides walls/structures for hanging work, pedestals for 3D and computer/tablet-based work, a screening area for time-based work, DVD/Blu-Ray players, digital projectors, flat panel monitors, speakers/headphones, electricity, and Wi-Fi. Artists are responsible for all packaging/shipping, any equipment not provided, and any installation labor if work is not hang/pedestal ready. A panel of jurors will select works and assign awards including Juror's Choice Award, Innovation Award, Best in Show Award, and an Audience Choice Award voted on by conference attendees. The Student Showcase is also available for university departments/programs with a $265.00 participation fee, open to academic programs focusing on digital media instruction with submission divisions in Digital Art & Design, Digital Media Research, and Game Design.
