About This Call
The Idaho State University Department of Art, in partnership with the Department of Global Studies and Languages, invites submissions for an open call for art exploring contemporary voices of Latino artists in America. This exhibition coincides with year-long programming funded by the NEH, centering around the PBS series Latino Americans: 500 Years of History.
The exhibition will showcase and explore new expressions of ever-evolving Latino voices in America, reflecting the richness and diversity of Latino culture and its commitment to inclusivity. Work that prescribes new visual discourse regarding identity is of special interest, but not necessary for consideration. The juror is Consuelo Jimenez Underwood, a contemporary Latina fiber artist whose work is included in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, The Mexican Museum in San Francisco, The Museum of Art & Design in New York, and the National Hispanic Center for the Arts in New Mexico.
Entry Deadline: December 1, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee: $20.00. Applicants must submit 5 images. Exhibition dates: January 19 - February 16, 2016. International eligibility. Contact: [email protected]
