ICON: A National Exhibition of Artworks Inspired by Momentous Artists and Art Movements

ICON is a national exhibition of unique 2D and 3D artworks inspired by momentous artists and art movements. Artists are invited to submit work inspired by artists and artistic movements throughout history, from Da Vinci to Banksy and beyond. Please include in your artist statement which artists and/or artistic movements inspire your work. Work may be no longer than 60 inches in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

This is a juried exhibition co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and exhibition juror Anna Isbell, Ph.D., Assistant Professor & Director of the James Wise Gallery at Norfolk State University. The exhibition will feature work in a variety of styles. D'Art Center will host an in-person public reception according to state COVID guidelines, stream the reception awards on Facebook Live, upload the award video to YouTube, and list exhibiting pieces for sale on the d'Art Center website.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Content should be appropriate for all viewers. Entry fee is $45 for 3 works (one image per submission); additional submissions are $5 each (maximum 10 total). Submit 3-10 images via Call for Entry. Exhibition dates: November 13 - December 5, 2021. Reception: November 18, 2021, 5:30-7:30pm. Accepted works must arrive by November 5, 2021. Notifications by email by October 25, 2021. Awards: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $150. All work must be hang/presentation ready. Works requiring special installation must include clear instructions or be installed by the artist. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during shipping; artists should insure their work. Commission on sales is 60% artist, 40% d'Art Center.
