About This Call
I Contain Multitudes is the 2023 NCECA Annual exhibition, curated by Garth Johnson, Paul Phillips and Sharon Sullivan Curator of Ceramics at the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, New York. The exhibition blends invitational and open juried models, featuring six invited artists—Stephen Creech, Beth Lo, Jeff Oestreich, Natasha Smoke Santiago, James Watkins, and Bari Ziperstein—alongside additional works selected through this open call. The exhibition will be held at the Weston Art Gallery in the Aronoff Center for the Arts, 650 Walnut Street, Cincinnati, Ohio from March 14 - May 7, 2023.
Submissions are open to ceramic artists over 18 years of age who are not currently matriculating for a degree in higher education. All works must be primarily ceramic, with mixed media accepted only when clay is the dominant material. Video featuring clay or ceramics is also accepted. Artists may submit up to three distinct works with no more than two media files per work, not to exceed six total media files (1-6 images, 0-2 audio files, 0-2 video files). Works must be responsive to the exhibition theme and able to fit through the venue's entryways and be safely installed. Floor and pedestal works must be self-supporting. Works shown in previous NCECA exhibitions are not eligible.
Entry fee is $45.00 for non-members; NCECA members receive complimentary entry. The deadline is Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. Submissions are made through the CaFE platform at www.callforentry.org. Applicants must provide a work statement (1000 characters), artwork statements for each piece (2000 characters total), a biographical statement in third person (1000 characters), a two-page resume (max 2mb), optional pronouns, and a headshot in jpg format. All submissions must include a declared monetary value for insurance purposes. For questions about eligibility or submissions, contact [email protected] or [email protected].
