I Am That!

The Lab on Santa Fe, located in the center of the Downtown Denver Art District, invites artists to submit work for an exhibition exploring identity and spirituality. The exhibition asks: What does it mean to know yourself? What is the core of spirituality underneath all the posturing and soft/hushed voices of the new-age movement? Is your deepest sense of identity something of tremendous urgency? How does your artistic process bring you to your knees? This is not a religious agenda but rather a reference to the gritty nature of life that always humbles us in one way or another. Who are you before you identify as this or that? How does your art scrape away all pseudo-identities that are vain and transient? The exhibition is not looking for a simple sense of beauty, but rather work that walks the line between the poetic and the irreverent, between the Absolute and the Void. A range of interpretations is welcome.

Submissions must include 1-3 images and optionally 1 video. Entry fee is $35. The exhibition runs January 12 - February 10, 2024. Countless attendees of the First Friday Art Crawl will see the work accepted into this exhibition.

Eligibility is limited to local Colorado artists. If accepted, artists must be available for drop-off on Sunday, January 7 between 10am-12pm. Measurements must be accurate on the application, as the curator has the right to turn away work at drop-off if dimensions are not correct.
