Hygge - The Art Of Contentment

Pour-d is a new contemporary gallery opening in Rockford, Michigan in January 2022. The inaugural exhibition, Hygge - The Art Of Contentment, invites artists to submit work exploring the concept of hygge (the feeling of coziness and contentment evoked by simple comforts) in creative ways that engage audiences in a cozy artistic haven. The exhibition aims to connect viewers with a sense of calm and inner peace. Artists from National, Regional, and Local areas are invited to participate. Featured artists are invited and encouraged to attend the reception.

The exhibition runs for 6 weeks from January 14, 2022 through February 26, 2022. Entry fee is $20 for up to 5 images. All mediums and genres are considered, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional work, digital art, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Submissions should include at least 3 images, a biography and/or artist statement, artist website link, and links to at least one social media platform. All work must be original, unsold, and the artist must own the sole copyright. Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality and in good condition. 2D artwork must be ready to hang. Notifications are generally sent via email within 3 weeks of the call closing. Selected artists will receive invitation status or wait list status (wait list artists will be featured in at least one exhibition within the calendar year).

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping. All shipments must include a prepaid UPS or FED EX return label and be shipped in a reusable container. Work can be shipped to 39 Courtland St, Rockford, MI 49341. The gallery retains a 40% commission on all exhibition sales. Payment to artists will be provided within 60 days after the exhibit concludes and receipt of full payment from the buyer. By submitting work, artists agree the gallery may use, edit, reproduce, publish, transmit, and display images of the work for promotion and display of the exhibition and other purposes. Pour-d Gallery is not liable for artwork during transportation.
