About This Call
The San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center invites artists and photographers worldwide to participate in Human Form & Figure, a virtual art exhibit reflecting the limitless possibilities of the human figure. From the realistic to the abstract, the human body has been a source of art since the beginning of time. Whether in movement or at rest, in color or black & white, the human form beckons artists' desire to visualize who we are.
Artwork submissions are limited to six original artworks per artist in the following media: drawing, mixed media, collage, printmaking, fiber art, photography, painting, digital art, and sculpture. Work must have been created within the last three years. Entries must be original and of the artist's own execution. Artwork created and completed under the direct supervision of an instructor is not eligible. Previously submitted works to SFVACC/SCORE exhibits are not eligible. All artwork images should be submitted as high-resolution JPEGs (1-5MB) either cropped to remove background or on a black background without a mat. Entry fee is $35 for the first artwork, with up to 5 additional entries at $5 each. Fees are non-refundable and there is no guarantee of acceptance.
Awards include Best of Show ($800), 1st Place ($400), 2nd Place ($300), and up to four Honorable Mentions. The juror is Adria Becker. Entry deadline is August 1, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notifications will be sent August 9-10, 2023. The exhibit opens September 1, 2023 and closes September 30, 2023. A virtual artists reception is scheduled for September 9, 2023 at 5 p.m. PST. The exhibit will remain on view on the SFVACC website Archived Exhibits page indefinitely after closing. All sales are handled directly between artist and buyer with no commission to SFVACC.
