About This Call
Hui No`eau Juried Exhibition invites artists to submit original artwork created between January 2006 and January 2008. All entrants must be members of Hui No`eau at the time of entry and residents of the State of Hawaii, at least 18 years old. Artists may become members by calling 808-572-6560. Work previously shown in a juried exhibition on Maui is not eligible.
Artwork in any medium or combination of media is eligible, though the Hui reserves the right to reject works due to toxic or dangerous materials. All works must be original, created independently, and ready for hanging or installation. Framed works must have wire attached; matted work without frames will not be accepted. Installation submissions are welcome and require a detailed sketch with materials, dimensions, and statement of intention; the artist must be present to install. Maximum dimensions are 9 feet height, 5 feet length, 5 feet depth, and 200 pounds weight. Artists may submit up to 2 entries at $10.00 per entry. The exhibition will typically consist of no more than 50 works.
Accepted artwork must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition (January 11 – February 17, 2008). Artwork may be for sale with a 50/50 commission split between artist and Hui. Off-island entrants are responsible for shipping. Online submissions are accepted through callforentry.org; selected work must arrive by January 2 for final jurying. Hui No`eau is not responsible for loss or damage of artwork. Opening reception is January 11, 6:00–8:00 pm (members only). Jurying occurs January 4, with notification January 5. Non-selected work pickup is January 6, 10:00 am–4:00 pm; selected work pickup is January 18, 10:00 am–4:00 pm.
