About This Call
The Wallkill River School announces the 4th annual Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival, held October 8-13. The Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival is a juried exhibition open to all painters in all mediums. Artists may paint at locations of their choosing within the provided Hudson Valley map. The festival concludes with an exhibition and sale of paintings created during the event.
The festival includes artist awards and an opportunity to sell work. Thanks to generous sponsors, there will be at least $2,000 in awards. Award categories include 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, Honorable Mention, People's Choice, Best Audubon Site Painting, Best Greenwood Lake Painting, Best Goshen Painting, and Best Nocturne. Artists who won awards at the 2018 Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival are automatically guaranteed a spot if they apply by July 1st.
Entry requires a non-refundable $45 fee and submission of three digital images of original plein air artwork created within the past two years, plus an artist bio. Three jurors will review applications and select 30 artists to participate. Jury notifications will be emailed by August 1st. Artist check-in and canvas stamping occurs Tuesday, October 8th from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Wallkill River School. Artwork drop-off is Saturday, October 12th from 4:30-6:30 pm at Orange Hall Gallery at SUNY Orange in Middletown. The public show and sale is Sunday, October 13th from 3:00-5:00 pm. Host housing is available for out-of-town artists.
