HOWL. The Art of Dogs 2026, International Call for Art

Wild Heart Gallery invites artists to submit artwork depicting dogs, wolves, coyotes, and any other canines for "HOWL. The Art of Dogs 2026." All canine-themed art is eligible, including 2D and 3D work, photography, sculpture, drawing, painting, mixed media, original digital art (no AI), and printmaking. Artists are encouraged to explore creative interpretations of the theme, depicting dogs in all their aspects—their joy, focus, playfulness, isolation, and herd-mentality. Submissions may be literal or abstract, and may include humans, objects, landscapes, and other elements as long as the focus remains on the animal(s).

This is a virtual art exhibition. The deadline for entries is March 20, 2026, at 5:59pm Pacific Time Zone. Entry fee is $17 for 1-2 images. Artists may submit up to 2 separate art pieces; sculptors and 3D artists may submit up to 2 additional views per piece. All entries must be original artwork by the submitting artist, not previously shown on wildheartgallery.com (though pieces shown only on artcall.org may be resubmitted). Artwork images must be professional: cropped, without glare, frames, or watermarks. Files must be JPG, GIF, or PNG format, not exceeding 5MB. Minimum image dimensions are 1000px width or height. For photographs, include camera make and model and whether film or digital.

Awards include Best in Show ($350), Overall Runner Up ($150), Artivism Award ($50 for art-activism about animals and/or the environment), Honorable Mentions, and Finalists. Jury selection begins within 7 days after the entry deadline and concludes within 15 days. Jurors will evaluate entries based on theme relevance, originality, technique, skill, and quality of work. Only award recipients will be included in the online group exhibition on wildheartgallery.com. Selected works and finalists may be featured on artcall.org at the discretion of the lead juror. The artist retains all copyrights to their artwork. By entering, artists grant Wild Heart Gallery a non-exclusive perpetual license to reproduce images on wildheartgallery.com, artcall.org, Facebook, Instagram, and other media outlets. Notification of jury results is April 2, 2026, with the virtual show running in April 2026. This call is open to all artists age 18 or older internationally. Entry fees are non-refundable.
