About This Call
THE LAB ON SANTA FE in Denver is seeking artists whose work channels the strange beauty, dark humor, moral ambiguity, and surreal Americana found in the films of Joel & Ethan Coen—from Fargo and No Country for Old Men to The Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, and beyond. Whether it's a snow-drenched crime scene, a bowling alley fever dream, a cowboy ballad, or just the eerie quiet of a wide-open plain, artists are invited to submit their interpretation. The exhibit welcomes pieces that explore character, story, absurdity, violence, longing, fate, and flat-out weirdness. All mediums are welcome, including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more. Work can be minimalist or maximalist, literal or abstract.
The exhibit will run for two First Fridays and 7 weeks, from October 3 to November 15, 2025. The juror is Rick Dallago, Denver-based artist and consultant. Entry fee is $29.00. Artists may submit 1-3 images and up to 1 video (4 samples maximum). Eligibility is national. Out-of-state artists must cover all shipping costs to and from Colorado.
Application Requirements: Please include framed size in the application. Any work 5 inches larger at drop-off than stated on the application can be turned away. Measurements must be correct, including framing. Wire hangers must be attached to the back of pieces or sides of stretched canvas must be painted.
