Houston Center for Photography 32nd Annual Juried Membership Exhibition

The Houston Center for Photography invites members to submit work for its 32nd Annual Juried Membership Exhibition. The exhibition will be juried by Malcolm Daniel, Curator in Charge of the Department of Photography at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Three juror commendations will receive Beth Block Juried Membership Honoraria of $500, supported by The Beth Block Foundation.

Participants must be or become HCP members at the time of submission. The competition is open to all artists working in photographic and lens-based work. Acceptable work must be original, still in development within the last two years, and the body of work submitted as a whole must not have been exhibited in a previous HCP Exhibition. Submissions may include up to 10 images or videos. The entry fee is $35.00, which covers up to 10 images or video. Membership starts at $35. Multiple entries are allowed; each entry is $35.

Submissions must include up to 10 images or videos, an artist statement, and a resume/bio. Acceptance will be based on the body of work by each artist rather than on individual images. Applicants will be notified by May 23, 2014. The exhibition runs from July 11 to September 14, 2014, with an opening reception on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. Exhibiting artists pay for round-trip shipping of their work. Works must be delivered ready-to-hang with any necessary pedestals or hardware for installation. Black or white wood frames and bright white matting are required if applicable. Works will be insured while on the premises of HCP, but HCP cannot be responsible for damage or loss during transit.
