About This Call

Houston Center for Photography invites members to submit work for its 30th Annual Juried Membership Exhibition. The exhibition will be juried by Anne Wilkes Tucker, Gus and Lyndall Wortham Curator of Photography at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Three juror commendations will receive Beth Block Juried Membership Honoraria of $500, supported by The Beth Block Foundation, and a page on the HCP Member Artist Database.

Eligibility: Participants must be or become HCP members (any level) at the time of submission. The competition is open to all artists working in photographic and lens-based work. Work must be original, made within the last two years, and not previously exhibited in an HCP Exhibition. Any photographic process is acceptable.

Submission Details: Entry fee is $35, which includes submission of up to 10 images or videos. Artists may submit more than one entry, with each entry costing $35. Submissions should include up to 10 images or videos, an artist statement, and a resume/bio. Images should be saved at 1920 px on the longest side. Acceptance will be based on the body of work by each artist rather than individual images. Applicants will be notified by May 25, 2012. Exhibition dates are July 13 - August 26, 2012, with an opening reception on Friday, July 13, 2012, 6-8 p.m. Exhibiting artists pay for round-trip shipping of their work. Work must be delivered ready-to-hang with any necessary pedestals or hardware. Black or white wood frames and bright white matting are required if applicable. Artists exhibiting slide or video projection, installation, or sculptural works must provide necessary hardware and equipment. Works will be insured while on HCP premises but HCP cannot be responsible for damage or loss during transit. HCP retains the right to display and reproduce accepted work for publicity and promotional purposes.
