Houston Center for Photography: 2014 Fellowship Exhibition Call for Entry

The Houston Center for Photography invites submissions for its 2014 Fellowship Exhibition. Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $3,000 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in summer 2014. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100-mile radius of Houston, including Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship. Another artist from anywhere in the world outside the Houston area will receive the HCP Fellowship. The competition is juried by Elisabeth Biondi, Independent Curator (New York, NY).

Eligibility: Participants must be or become HCP members (any level) at the time of submission. The competition is open to all artists working in photographic and lens-based work. Any photographic process is acceptable as long as the work is original, the body of work is still in development within the last two years, and the submitted body of work has not been exhibited in a previous HCP Exhibition. Entry fee is $35, which includes submission of up to 10 images or videos. HCP Artist/Photographer level members ($250 or above) may waive the entry fee for one call per year by contacting [email protected]. Membership fees start at $35.

Submissions must include up to 10 images or videos (minimum 1, maximum 10 total samples), an artist statement, and a resume/bio. Images should be 72 dpi and larger than 1920 px. Acceptance is based on the body of work as a whole rather than individual images. Applicants will be notified by December 13, 2013. Exhibition dates are May 9, 2014 through June 29, 2014. Works will be insured while on HCP premises but HCP is not responsible for damage or loss during transit. Exhibiting artists pay for round-trip shipping. Work must be delivered ready-to-hang with black or white wood frames and bright white matting if applicable.
