Houston Center for Photography: 2013 Fellowships

The Houston Center for Photography invites submissions for its 2013 Fellowships competition. Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $3,000 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in summer 2013. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100-mile radius of Houston, including Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship. Another artist from anywhere in the world outside the Houston area will receive the HCP Fellowship. The competition is juried by W.M. Hunt, a New York-based collector, curator, and consultant.

The competition is open to all artists working in photographic and lens-based work. Any photographic process is acceptable provided the work is original, made within the last two years, and has not been previously exhibited at HCP. Participants must be or become HCP members (any level) at the time of submission. The entry fee is $35, which includes submission of up to 10 images or videos. HCP Artist/Photographer level members ($250+) may contact [email protected] to receive a code to waive the entry fee.

Submissions should include up to 10 images or videos, an artist statement, and a resume or bio. Images should be saved at 1920 pixels on the longest side. Acceptance will be based on the body of work by each artist rather than individual images. Applicants will be notified by December 14, 2012. The exhibition runs May 3 - June 23, 2013, with an opening reception on Friday, May 3, 2013, 6-8 p.m. Exhibiting artists pay for round-trip shipping of their work. Work must be delivered ready-to-hang with any necessary pedestals or hardware for installation.
