About This Call
The Hotter 'N Hell National Collegiate Art Exhibition is a juried show featuring all art forms that use fire and heat as part of the creative process, including ceramics, glass-blowing, welded sculpture, poured metals, wood-burning, metalsmithing, burned textiles, and photos using fire. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best in Show ($500), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), and Merit Award ($100). The exhibition is open to college and university students from across the United States.
Eligibility: Artists must be registered and attending a college or university in the United States. All work submitted must use fire and/or heat in its production and must be ready for display. Work that requires special installation is the artist's responsibility. No work can exceed eight feet in any dimension. The entry fee is $35 for one to three works, with one detail image per piece included at no additional cost. Submissions are made via CaFÉ.
Important dates: Open Call begins November 19, 2021. Entry deadline is April 22, 2022. Acceptance notifications are sent May 20, 2022. Final delivery date for work is June 17, 2022, with installation on the same day. The show runs through September 2, 2022, with the final pickup day on September 16, 2022. Participants are responsible for shipping or delivering works. Juror: Christopher Saucedo.
