About This Call
Hotter 'N Hell is a national juried exhibition featuring all art forms that use fire and heat as part of the creative process, including ceramics, glass-blowing, welded sculpture, poured metals, wood-burning, metalsmithing, burned textiles, and photography using fire. The exhibition showcases work from college and university students across the United States.
Eligibility: Artists must be registered and taking an art course at a college, university, or community college in the United States. All submitted work must use fire and/or heat in its production and must be ready for display. Work cannot exceed eight feet in any dimension. The entry fee is $35 for one to three works, with one detail image per piece included at no additional cost.
Cash prizes are awarded: Best in Show ($500), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), and Merit Award ($100). The juror is Elizabeth Brim. Key dates: Entry deadline is May 15, 2022. Acceptance notifications will be sent May 31, 2022. Final delivery date for work is June 24, 2022. The exhibition runs through September 2, 2022, with a closing reception that day. Work pickup deadline is September 16, 2022. Participants are responsible for shipping or delivering works. All entries must be submitted via CaFÉ at callforentry.org. Contact information must be viable during summer months; personal emails and phone numbers are recommended over school email addresses.
