HOT SUMMER CITY: Street Photography Exhibition w/ Special Guest Curator

Vestige Concept Gallery is seeking street photography for HOT SUMMER CITY, an exhibition held in Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh, PA. The show will be special guest curated by Rafael Fuchs, a Brooklyn-based artist, photographer, director, and curator whose work has been featured in museums globally, including The National Portrait Gallery in London.

The exhibition seeks street photography that captures the essence of urban life in summertime, including intense warmth, deep shadows, late nights, summer fun, and outdoor activities. The gallery is also interested in work depicting the darker aspects of summer: oppressive heat, urban blight, and the struggle to survive. Work should ideally have been created in the last three years and fall into standard print sizes such as 10"x13" or 11"x14", though all sizes are accepted. Work must not have been previously displayed at Vestige Concept Gallery and must be for sale.

Eligibility is open to artists over age 18 internationally. Entry fee is $25 for up to 2 submissions, with an additional $5 per entry for submissions 3-8 (maximum 8 total). Applicants must submit 2-8 images. Accepted artists must provide high-resolution 300 dpi images, artist bio, and web/social links for the online version of the show. Shipped work must arrive by July 8, 2021. The in-person opening reception is Saturday, July 10 at 6 PM. The exhibition runs July 7-31, 2021. Vestige Concept Gallery retains a 25% commission on sold artwork. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance to and from the gallery. International applicants should contact the gallery prior to submitting.
