About This Call
Horizon 2.0 is a national open call online exhibition curated by Karen Hochman Brown, a Los Angeles-based artist and curator. The exhibition runs November 20 to December 17, 2021, at Shoebox Projects, an alternative art space supporting artists through curator opportunities, residencies, representation, and exhibitions.
All artwork must use digital processes to create landscapes that have veered from reality through the artist's skill and imagination. Eligible methods include manipulated photography, photo painting, digital painting, digital collage, vector drawing, dynamic painting, generative artwork, fractal/algorithmic artwork, integrated digital art, video art, and computer-generated painting. 2D artworks may include screen grabs from moving imagery but will be juried as static images. If the entire moving piece is to be viewed, it must be submitted as a video. Work requiring specialized equipment to view will not be considered. Videos are limited to 10 minutes in length and will be shown via YouTube or Vimeo links only.
Submission Requirements: Artists may submit up to 3 images for a $10 non-refundable submission fee. Up to 7 additional pieces (for a total of 10) may be submitted for $5 each. There are no size limitations on physical artworks. Acceptance notification is November 1, 2021. A Zoom opening reception and artist talk will be held November 21, 2021. Awards include first place (online solo show at Shoebox Projects in 2022), second place ($100), and third place ($50). All sales are handled directly between the artist and buyer with no gallery commission. Open to US residents, age 18 and older.
