About This Call
Hood River BIG ART Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit is a public art initiative in Hood River, Oregon, located along the Columbia River Gorge within a designated National Scenic Area. The Art of Community BIG ART Walking Tour consists of up to 25 sculptures on loan from artists around the country, installed in the downtown Hood River area for approximately two years, running from March 2019 to March 2021.
Artists are invited to submit applications for sculpture placement. Applications must include photographs of the submitted work taken from front and back viewpoints. A committee will select pieces to be installed in the downtown area. Accepted artists are asked to submit a bio (200 words maximum) and a head shot. Submissions should be works that are available or can be fabricated within the project timeline.
Hood River hosts major events throughout the year including Blossom Festival, Pacific Northwest Plein Air, Hood River Hops Fest, Hood River Valley Harvest Festival, Wine and Pear Festival, Gorge Artists Open Studio Tour, and Northwest Exposure Wine Weekend. Artwork will be professionally photographed on site, and 20,000 Walking Tour Maps will be designed, printed, and distributed throughout the Pacific Northwest. Entry fee: $15.00. Submit 2-10 images of your work. National eligibility.
