About This Call
Honolulu Printmakers invites all print artists residing in the state of Hawaii to participate in the 92nd Annual Exhibition by submitting up to 5 entries for jurying. This exhibition presents a carefully juried selection of the best print work from artists around the state working in traditional printmaking media as well as contemporary forms and hybrids. The exhibition will run from January 15 - February 14, 2020, at the Honolulu Museum of Art School main gallery. Yoonmi Nam of the University of Kansas will serve as juror. Work will be juried in the first week of December, and notifications will be sent on or around December 15, 2019.
The exhibition seeks print works in all printmaking media, including lithographs, screenprints, relief prints, intaglio, monoprints, letterpress, artists books, digital prints and print-based installations. Work must have been created within the last three years and may not have been previously shown in a juried exhibition on Oahu. Submitted images should be 100% complete at the time of upload and accurately represent the work; digitally retouched images or simulated drafts should not be submitted. Each distinct piece is a single entry; polyptychs must be contained within a single frame to count as one piece.
Entry fees are $40 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry, up to 5 maximum. Discounted entry fees are available for current members of Honolulu Printmakers ($25 first entry; $5 additional) and current university students with valid ID ($10 first entry; $5 additional). Membership options are available at the time of entry. Accepted prints must be delivered framed with wire or other necessary hanging hardware; clip frames are not allowed. Sales of work are subject to a 40% exhibition fee. Cash and merchandise awards will be selected and presented by the juror, and purchase awards will be selected by individual buyers. Oahu-based artists should deliver work on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, between 4 pm and 7 pm to Honolulu Museum of Art School, 1111 Victoria Street, Honolulu, HI 96814. Neighbor island artists should ship accepted work by Monday, December 31, 2019, to the same address. Return shipping is covered only for current neighbor island members.
