HOME v.1: Gimmie Shelter - Redefining and Reimagining the Place We Call 'Home'

First Annual HOME Exhibition: Gimmie Shelter - Redefining and Reimagining the Place We Call 'Home' presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance in partnership with the Decatur Land Trust, Georgia Center for the Book, and Decatur Library. The exhibition will be held July 11 - August 16, 2025, in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library. An opening reception is planned for Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6:30-9pm.

This juried multimedia showcase invites professional and student artists of all mediums—painters, sculptors, photographers, mixed media artists, and more—to explore the theme of home. The exhibition seeks creative responses to questions about what "home" means: Is it a shelter or a sanctuary? A place on a map or an internalized feeling of community? Artists are invited to look beyond brick and mortar to illuminate the diverse ways we experience and define "Home."

Entry deadline is June 8, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $20.00. Professional artists may submit up to three entries for one fee. Students in grades 6 through postsecondary can apply for free using a student email and coupon code. Work samples must include 1-3 images and up to 1 video (4 samples maximum total). Notification of acceptance will be sent via CaFÉ no later than June 17, 2025. Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Gold Award ($700), Silver Award ($500), and Student Award ($500). Sales are encouraged; the Decatur Arts Alliance collects a 25% commission on all artwork sold. The 7% Georgia sales tax will be added at point of sale.
