Home Sick: International Juried Art Exhibition

Home Sick: International Juried Exhibition seeks artwork that captures how the tumultuous events of 2020 have shaped personal experiences and artistic practice. The exhibition invites works that explore how the phrase "Home Sick" can take on multiple meanings in today's revolutionary climate. Traditional and contemporary artwork across a wide array of media are welcome—painting, photography, drawing, pastels, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, wearable art, sculpture, film and other new media. Artists of all ages are welcome, regardless of where they are from or how they identify.

The exhibition will be held February 26 through April 1, 2021, at The Art Effect's Trolley Barn Gallery, 489 Main St., Poughkeepsie, New York, with an Opening Reception on Friday, February 26. Curator Mary-Kay Lombino, Deputy Director and Curator at The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, will work collaboratively with accomplished youth from The Art Effect to select artworks. Selected works will be displayed in the Trolley Barn Gallery as well as an interactive online exhibition. Artists will be notified within approximately two weeks after the deadline about the selection status of their entries.

Entry fees vary by eligibility: Art Effect Alumni & current students $25 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image; Art Effect Members $30 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image; City of Poughkeepsie Residents (zip code 12601) $30 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image; General fee/non-members $35 for the first three images plus $5 for each additional image. Maximum 15 images including up to 3 video submissions. Media fee: $5.00. Coupon codes are available for eligible applicants—email [email protected] for applicable codes. Artwork should not exceed 10 feet in any direction; contact the gallery for consideration if your work exceeds these dimensions. Artists are responsible for transportation/delivery to and from the gallery. Prizes: $500 First Prize, $250 Second Prize, $150 Honorable Mention. Notification of accepted artwork: January 16, 2021.
