About This Call
Holy Moly / Religious Commentary in Contemporary Art is an exhibition exploring religious themes in contemporary art. The call invites artists to respond to the question: What is religion? Paint it, draw it, sculpt it, create your passion. All media are accepted, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing, ink, assemblage, collage, prints (etching, intaglio, woodcut, mono-print), photography, and sculpture.
Entry fee is $40.00 for up to three entries (non-refundable). Submit 1-3 images through CaFÉ by November 26, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Accepted artists will be notified via email on November 29, 2016. Art must be original and created by the artist; no reproductions or giclees. All 2D work must be ready to hang with secure wire on the back (no plastic frames, white frames, saw tooth or triangle hangers). 3D work must not exceed 50 pounds and be sturdy and stand-alone; wall-hung 3D work cannot exceed 25 pounds. Shipped artwork must fit in a package no larger than 36 x 36 inches and arrive by December 13, 2016. Local artwork drop-off is Tuesday, December 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; work brought in person must be no larger than 48 inches wide by 60 inches high. All artwork must be clearly marked on the back with artist name, title, medium, size, and price.
The exhibition runs December 16, 2016 through January 28, 2017, with an opening and artists reception on December 16 from 5-8 p.m. Artists receive 60% of sales, with payment within 30 days after the exhibit ends. Awards of recognition will be given. The juror is Niza Knoll. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping. Unsold shipped work will be returned approximately one week after the exhibit ends.
