HMVC Gallery presents Fun In Progress

HMVC Gallery presents an online group art exhibition celebrating fun, play, and the art of not taking yourself too seriously. The exhibition explores themes including the aesthetics of play and leisure, humor, everyday objects as artistic catalysts, colors and textures, and absurdity. Artists are invited to submit artworks based on these themes, drawing inspiration from historical movements like 18th Century Rococo, Dadaism, and Pop Art.

Artworks must have been produced in 2026. All mediums of visual art are welcome except AI-created art and video/film. Artists may submit up to 20 artworks for juror consideration; one artwork from each selected artist will be included in the final group show. Submissions must include high-quality images, an Artist Bio, and an Artist Statement. Images must be in JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, or WEBP format, with dimensions between 1200-2560 pixels on the longest side and file size under 2 MB. Digital entries must be received by January 29, 2026 before 11:59 p.m. EST. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by January 31, 2026. The show will premiere on February 1, 2026 and end on February 28, 2026.

Entry fee is $40 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry (non-refundable and does not guarantee acceptance). All participating artists will be featured on the HMVC Gallery website and virtual gallery, receive a certificate of participation, and have their work featured in a video screening on a Times Square jumbotron billboard in February. Awards include: Best of Show ($150), Second Place ($100), and Third Place (online solo show at HMVC Gallery for one month plus solo certificate). Cash prize winners must have a working PayPal account. Jurors are Heini Mika and Vincent Chang. By submitting, artists grant HMVC Gallery New York the right to use images on their website, social media, and online for promotion, with full credit and copyright remaining with the artist.
