Hit Me With Your Best Shot 2019

This is a national bird photography competition featuring birds found in the United States. The competition opens June 1 with an entry deadline of September 1. Notification of acceptance is September 15, with a deadline for receipt of accepted works on October 5. The reception and awards presentation is October 13 from 2:00-4:00 pm, and the exhibition concludes November 23.

There are three photo categories: Birds in Action, An Educational Moment, and Fine Art Photo. Category awards are $200 for first place and $100 for second place in each category. Fifty photos will be selected for the exhibit, with a $300 award for the photo judged "Best in Show." Award winners are selected from the 50 pieces juried into the show. Digital enhancements should be limited to color and shadow only. No alteration of the original image shape or background is allowed, and no cloning in or out of photos. Entrants must follow Audubon Photography guidelines regarding bird safety and dignity. Entrants must be 18 years or older.

Accepted works must be framed and backwired. Image size should not exceed 18" x 24" or equivalent. Matted and framed work should not be larger than 24" x 28" or 672 sq. in. You may enter up to 3 photos for a non-refundable entry fee of $35. Additional photos (up to 9 total) may be entered for an additional media fee of $10 per photo. A gallery commission fee of 20% will be assessed on the sale of photographs during the exhibition. Return of artwork begins November 30, 2019. Hand-delivered pieces may be picked up beginning November 23. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
