About This Call
The Colorado Historical Society is seeking qualifications from an artist or artist team interested in early integration of artwork for the History Colorado Center in Denver, Colorado. The Art Selection Committee seeks an artist or artist team to join the design team to identify specific art opportunities in the new facility. $30,000 has been set aside for the design team commission. The artist will also develop a proposal for a major integrated art commission of up to $300,000, with a total art budget of $330,000 for the Early Integration project.
The History Colorado Center is a 200,000 square foot facility in the downtown cultural district that will include a public museum and exhibition spaces, education areas, collections management facilities, administrative offices, the Stephen H. Hart Library, and State Archaeology and Historic Preservation offices. The Committee is looking for an artist to help take the Museum and its programs to a new level, incorporating artwork that engages all ages and makes the visitor central to the history experience rather than a passive observer. The artist must have the skills and experience commensurate with the responsibility of successfully completing a major public artwork with a budget of over $100,000. All applicants must be legal residents of the United States.
Deadline for submittal: September 16, 2009, Midnight MDT. Work sample requirements: 6 images.
