About This Call
The City of Westminster Office of Cultural Affairs invites artists to submit sculptures for the 2019-2021 Sculpture on Loan Program. Selected works will be displayed at outdoor spaces and facilities throughout the city. Each application represents one artwork and may include 1 to 3 images. Artists may submit up to 20 applications by paying the $25 entry fee per application.
Acceptable sculptures must be constructed from metal, stone, or similarly durable materials that can withstand outdoor exposure. Wooden structures will not be accepted. Sculptures must have no easily breakable, damaged, or removable parts and must not present safety or liability concerns. Sculptures requiring maintenance during the exhibition period will not be considered. Applications will be reviewed based on artistic merit, professional qualifications, site appropriateness, structural integrity, durability, maintenance requirements, insurance value, and liability considerations.
Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium (paid in two installments) to cover preparation, transportation, and loan costs. Artwork must be delivered to Harris Park (3915 West 73rd Avenue, Westminster, CO) on or before July 15, 2019. The sculpture will be on display for 24 months with a designated removal date of approximately July 15, 2021. If artwork is sold during the exhibition period, the artist must provide a replacement sculpture of equal or greater value within 7 days. Successful applicants will be notified on or about May 16, 2019. Applications must be submitted by April 19, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
