About This Call

The City of Pompano Beach is commissioning an artist located in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties to design and fabricate a Painted Pompano fish sculpture with a $2,000 budget. The pompano fish is the City's namesake and a symbol of Pompano residents' identity. Once completed, the sculpture will be placed at Roy L. Rogers Family Park (formerly Hillsboro Inlet Park), 2700 N Ocean Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. The theme for the design is Pompano Beach's Shipwreck Park and Wahoo Bay, scuba diving, boating, marine life, and ecosystem awareness.

The selected artist will be provided with a prefabricated fish that is 5' tall and approximately 3' wide, constructed out of foam with three coats of polyurethane and primed with Zinsser bulls eye primer white. The artist must provide their own workspace and has 30 days to complete the artwork once the agreement is executed. Selected artist will be paid $1,500 upon completion and approval and is responsible for pickup and delivery of the sculpture. An anti-graffiti and UV resistant coating must be applied.

Artists may submit up to three designs for consideration using the provided templates, which must include design on side A and B with a list of materials. Designs that are religious, political, sexual in nature, contain text, alpha-numeric characters, corporate logos, or advertising will not be accepted. Submissions require an artist statement, examples of previous artwork (minimum 1, maximum 3), and the completed design templates. The artist will be selected based on design, statement, examples of previous artwork, and materials to be used.
