Hickory Museum of Art: Road Trip Juried Exhibition

The Hickory Museum of Art is hosting a regional juried exhibition with a theme relating to cars, journeys, and the open road. Artists are invited to explore the personal automobile as it relates to their generation, life's journey, or a particular road trip experience. The exhibition is open to all U.S. artists.

Up to 3 pieces of original artwork may be submitted per artist. Works in all media are eligible (excluding film). All works must be original, created within the past two years, and not previously exhibited at the Hickory Museum of Art. Two-dimensional artwork must be 72" x 72" or less. Three-dimensional artwork must be 6' x 3' x 3" or less and may not exceed 50 pounds. The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 images submitted online through CaFÉ. Jurors will award a Best in Show ($350) and a People's Choice Award ($250) selected by the public during The AutoLawn event on September 14, 2013. Both awards will be announced at 3:30 PM. Acceptance/rejection notification will be sent via email by July 19, 2013. The exhibition runs from August 31, 2013 through January 5, 2014. Shipped artwork must arrive between August 12-16, 2013 with pre-paid return postage. Hand-delivered works will be received Friday, August 16, 2013 (1-4 PM) and Saturday, August 17, 2013 (10 AM-1 PM). The Hickory Museum of Art will take a 30% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Artists are responsible for providing their own insurance on work in transit; accepted entries will be insured by the museum for 70% of retail price from receipt through return on January 7, 2014.
