Heroes, Heroines & Heroics

Heroes, Heroines & Heroics is a virtual exhibition presented by the Flagler County Art League (FCAL), a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Palm Coast, Florida. The exhibition invites artists to explore the concept of heroism through their creative work. A hero is defined as a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character. The call asks: Who is your hero? What do they do? What does "heroism" look like to you? Whether your hero is a real person or a fantasy character, FCAL wants to celebrate the concept of heroism and all the various actual heroes that either walk among us already, or need to. Artists are invited to share how they recognize a hero, heroic acts, or the concept of heroism through their artistic expression.

The exhibition runs from April 17 to June 12, 2021. All sale proceeds go directly to the artist, with FCAL waiving any commission percentage for this virtual show. Monetary awards are given for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place. The virtual gallery displays digital images only; original physical artwork remains in the artist's possession. Entry fee is $20 per entry with a limit of 4 entries per artist. Digital images must be submitted as JPEG or JPG files with the longest side at least 1200 pixels (1500-2500 pixels recommended) and file size not exceeding 5.0 MB. Entries must be original work created by the artist within 3 years of the show date and must not have been entered in any previous FCAL judged show. Shows are open to all artists and photographers regardless of geographic location. Registration deadline is March 30, 2021. Acceptance notices will be communicated on or before March 31, 2021, and award winners will be notified on or before April 17, 2021.
