About This Call

Heroes and Legends is an international art competition celebrating the profound impact of heroes and legends on our day-to-day lives through a dual opportunity which includes an art exhibition and publication. The competition invites artists to explore who their heroes and legends are, how they have evolved their lives, and what lessons can be learned from them. Heroes and legends may come from family, school, work, visual arts, music, movies, literature, sports, science, business, religion, history, mythology, or other fields. All artistic expressions and interpretations of heroes and legends are welcome, including their faces, figures, acts, and the ways they have touched your life. This opportunity is open to all artists and mediums worldwide.

Selected artworks will be showcased in the Heroes and Legends 2021 international group art exhibition organized by Gallerium and published in The Book of Arts: Heroes and Legends publication. The exhibition will be displayed online from November 30 to December 30, 2021. Selected artists will receive a digital exhibition poster, social media badges, an artist profile page on the Biafarin platform, a digital certificate, and a report containing views, comments, engagement rates, and sales statistics. The online version of the publication will be available for free, while high-quality print versions can be ordered through print-on-demand services. The publication will be promoted and distributed internationally to millions of readers including art experts, galleries, curators, and enthusiasts.

Submission is free. Only selected artists will be asked to pay a selection fee of USD 40. Artists can submit up to 5 original artworks in 2 and 3-dimensional media, including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital art, sculpture, and mixed media. All styles and interpretations are accepted. Artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred, though there is no limit on creation year. Artworks must be entirely the work of the entrant and original, not copies or derivatives of other copyrighted work. Artists must have all rights for presenting and publishing artworks internationally. Artworks including pornography, violence, racial or religious hatred, or inappropriate or offensive content are not admissible. Maximum 2 artworks may be selected from each chosen artist.
