About This Call
The City of Pompano Beach is commissioning an artist or artist team for a work for hire project: an exterior mosaic wall mural located at the Herb Skolnick Civic Center, 800 SW 36th Ave, Pompano Beach, FL 33069. The selected artist(s) will design, fabricate, and install the artwork.
The mural theme is abstract and colorful, measuring 9 x 6 feet. The design must withstand South Florida weather conditions and wind load requirements. No words or logos are permitted. The artwork purchase budget is $18,000.00, which includes all insurance, taxes, fees, permits, delivery, and installation.
Applications must include: resume, artist statement regarding approach to project, and examples of past artworks similar to this project (minimum 3, maximum 5 images). A quick sketch of design is optional. Three artists will be shortlisted and paid an honorarium of $200.00 each. Shortlisted artists must submit detailed design proposals including mock images and a budget list. The project is open to all professional artists nationwide. Artists are not eligible if they are immediate family or business partners of members of the Public Art Committee or program staff. Contact Laura Atria, Public Art Program Manager, at 954-545-7800 ext. 3813 or [email protected] with questions.
