H.E.R. | History, Empowerment, Resilience

H.E.R. | History, Empowerment, Resilience 2025 exhibition invites artists of all backgrounds and identities to celebrate the influence of women in our lives and communities. This exhibition honors the diverse roles women embody—from daughters and friends to mentors, leaders, and visionaries. Artists are encouraged to reflect on and explore the ways in which women shape our experiences, traditions, and futures. Through painting, sculpture, photography, and more, works that pay tribute to the legacy of women's strength, resilience, and creativity are welcome. Whether inspired by personal relationships, historical figures, or abstract ideas of womanhood, this exhibition is a space to share and celebrate the profound impact of women across generations.

Open to artists in all of North America. All genders may submit works. Art media accepted: 2D, 3D, video, or jewelry in any medium. Cash awards will be given for select categories. Entry fee is $20. Artists may submit up to 5 entries. Entries must be original works completed in the past 5 years and not previously exhibited at Arts Illiana Gallery. All artwork must be for sale; the gallery takes a 30% commission on sales.

Opening reception: February 7th, 2025, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at Arts Illiana Gallery, 23 N. 6th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807. Exhibition viewing: February 7th - April 11th, 2025, Tuesday - Saturday, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Submission deadline: January 10th, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST. Juror voting: January 11-13, 2025. Artists notified: January 14th, 2025. Accepted art delivery: January 14th - 25th, 2025 (closed Mondays and Sundays). Work samples: minimum 1 image, maximum 5 total samples (images, audio, or video combined). Images must be JPEGs not exceeding 3MB. Video entries must be links to Vimeo or YouTube with private or unlisted settings. 2D work maximum dimensions: 6 feet in any direction including frame, weight not to exceed 50 lbs. 3D work maximum dimensions: 6.5' x 2.5' x 10', weight not to exceed 200 lbs, no more than 25 parts. All artwork must be labeled on back or bottom with title, year created, materials, and artist name. Artwork must be installation-ready with hanging wire on back; no sawtooth hooks. Acrylic, polystyrene, or Plexiglas required instead of glass in framed work. Artists are responsible for transporting and insuring works in transit.
