Heaven and Earth

Art Saint Louis presents "Heaven and Earth," an all media juried visual art exhibition featuring artworks inspired by or about heaven and earth, heavenly bodies & visions, the skies, limbo, paradise, hell, purgatory, and more. All explorations and interpretations of this theme are invited, with all media, styles, and techniques encouraged.

Eligibility: Open to artists 21 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Artists must be residents of the St. Louis region/200-mile radius when the show begins (January 18, 2020) to submit work and participate if selected. Entry fees: $20 for Art Saint Louis members, $35 for non-members. Submit 1-6 images and 0-3 videos (maximum 6 total samples). Artworks must be created/completed between 2016-2019, not previously exhibited in any juried exhibit in the St. Louis region during the 6 months prior to exhibit dates, and not previously exhibited at Art Saint Louis Gallery. Limit 3 original artworks per artist.

Exhibition: Art Saint Louis Gallery, 1223 Pine Street, downtown St. Louis, MO. Exhibition dates: January 18-February 12, 2020. Free reception on Saturday, January 18, 2020, 5-7 p.m. Jurors: David Brinker, Director of Museum of Contemporary Religious Art at Saint Louis University, and Sun Smith-Fôret, Illinois-based artist, educator, and curator. Awards: One $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence and four non-cash Awards of Excellence. All five award recipients are eligible for the "Honor Awards 2021" ten-artist curated exhibit at Art Saint Louis, June 12-July 15, 2021. Entry deadline: October 22, 2019 (11:59 p.m. MST). All artist-entrants will be notified of Invited/Not Invited status by email by November 22, 2019. Entry fee is non-refundable and selected artworks may not be substituted. Artwork must be available for exhibition and not double-booked for other conflicting exhibits.

Artwork specifications: Final installation size on all 2-D and wall-displayed/hung work not to exceed 72"W x 72"H, including frame. Weight limit for 2-D wall-installed works: not to exceed 30 lbs. 2-D works must be framed or have pre-approved alternate presentation. Works on canvas may be gallery-wrapped, strip-framed, or framed (no unstretched canvas). Textiles and quilts must have accompanying pre-drilled hanging bars or similar installation apparatus provided by artist. No ceiling-installed work, no artworks sitting directly on gallery floor, no shower rods or curtain rods for display. All wall-installed works must hang from standard hanging hardware.
